Lynda R. Smith, 20,
died Sunday at Sacramento General Hospital less than 24 hours after
she was struck on the head by a falling tree at the Pendola Ranch
near Camptonville.
Members of the
family were felling trees on the Pendola ranch when the fatal mishap
occurred.
Mrs. Smith had just
placed her baby daughter, Sandy, in the cab of a truck when she
walked into the path of a falling tree, according to a report from
Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
Mrs. Smith was born
in Berkeley 20 years ago and came to Grass Valley in 1957. She was
graduated from Nevada Union High School with the class of 1965 and
married Richard Smith the same year.
Survivors in
addition to her husband and baby daughter include her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Robert R. Renfree of Grass Valley; a sister, Carol Chappell
of Grass Valley; and her grandfather, R. C. Renfree of Auburn.
Mrs. Smith worked
for a short time at Nevada General Hospital and for the agricultural
extension office in Grass Valley. She had been a member of Job’s
Daughters.
Funeral services
will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hooper and Weaver Chapel.
