Memorial services for
Steve "Woody" Wood Sr. of Penn Valley will be conducted 6 p.m.
Monday at the Nevada City Elks Lodge No. 518. For more information

Mr. Wood died Sunday, May
2, in Sacramento. He was 56.
He was born Nov. 19, 1947,
in Pasadena, to John E. Wood and Moraine Dorrance Kanner. He
attended local grade and junior high schools. He married Janey on
Nov. 12, 1966, at the Rough and Ready Chapel. He was a resident of
Nevada County for 46 years, 15 of them in Penn Valley. He was a
house painter for 20 years. He was an avid NASCAR and NHRA race fan,
and was a master classic auto mechanic and woodworker. He also
enjoyed fishing, boating and camping.
Mr. Wood is survived by
his wife of 37 years, Janey K. Wood of Penn Valley; sons, Steve Jr.,
Shawn and Casey Wood, all of Penn Valley; daughter-in-law, Rose Wood
of Penn Valley; brother and sister-in-law, John and Mary Wood of
Sutter Creek; brother, Stan Wood of Harrison, Ark.; sisters and
brothers-in-law Delores and Patrick O'Conner of Nevada City, and
Lory and Bob Cannon of Cascade Shores; grandson, Logan Wood of Penn
Valley; granddaughter, Ran? of Grass Valley; and numerous nieces,
nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. He was preceded in death by
his parents.
Memorial contributions may
be made to the Steve Wood Memorial Fund, c/o Tri-Counties Bank to
help defray medical costs.
Arrangements are under the
direction of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary.
